New Morning International exists to strengthen the church in Japan and to equip believers for lasting gospel work.
Japan remains one of the largest unreached people groups in the world. Less than half a percent of the population is Christian, the majority of pastors are nearing retirement with few to replace them, and most communities have little or no gospel witness. All the while, pressing needs—suicide, social isolation, and special education—remain unmet.
We partner with local churches and believers to walk alongside them in both gospel witness and tangible care. Our immediate work supports existing congregations and helps meet needs such as mental health and special education needs. Our long-term aim is the establishment of training centers shaped by the pattern of Christ in the Gospels—places where disciples are formed, leaders are equipped, and the church is strengthened to reach the next generation.
Through prayer, partnership, and generosity, we seek to see the mercies of God made new every morning in Japan.
Japan is one of the largest unreached people groups on earth. Nearly 125 million people live there, yet less than half a percent are Christian. Most have never met a believer or even seen a Bible. Dozens of cities and hundreds of towns remain without a single gospel-preaching church. Seventy percent of pastors are over sixty, and many cannot retire because no one is coming behind them.
Japan is a wealthy and peaceful country. Many Christians do not even consider Japan when they think of places in need of missionary work. There’s no obvious physical poverty, no crisis that shows up easily on camera, but the spiritual need is one of the largest in the world. Eighty-four percent claim Buddhist or Shinto identity, yet most have no real conviction and treat religion as irrelevant to their everyday life. Superstition fills that vacuum. Thousands of cults and new religious movements thrive across the country. People are not spiritually dead—they are desperately searching for hope, but they are reaching for the wrong things.
The result is a quiet despair. Japan carries one of the highest suicide rates in the developed world: roughly 25,000 deaths a year, nearly seventy people every day. Suicide is the leading cause of death for those between fifteen and thirty-nine. Millions have withdrawn from society entirely. Depression and anxiety are rising. At the same time, child pornography, domestic abuse, and sexual assaults are rampant, and most cases go unreported because of shame. This has led an entire generation to ask why they even exist, and almost no one is there to give them an answer.
The Japanese people need a Savior. The church is small, aging, and stretched thin. The need for workers and for sustained support has never been more urgent. This is the hour to go, to give, and to stand with the church in Japan.
Your partnership helps strengthen the church in Japan and supports gospel work among one of the largest unreached people groups in the world.
New Morning International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2021. Trinity and Ruth serve as its founders and first missionaries.
The organization was established to support gospel work in Japan, partnering with local churches and believers. Trinity and Ruth are preparing to serve on the ground, bringing both a long-held burden for the Japanese people and practical experience in special education.
Trinity & Ruth Kidd
Trinity is the founder and first missionary of New Morning International. He has served in the church since childhood and was called into missions at the age of 12. He was ordained to preach at the age of 35. Japan has long been a dream he has held, and bringing the light of the Gospel to its people is a passion that burns in his bones.
Ruth comes from a Christian family long involved in church and music ministry. Her faith deepened in college, and she developed a heart for the special-needs community. She holds a master’s degree in Special Education and has taught in both the Philippines and the United States. Alongside her husband, she is committed to faithfully supporting the ministry to which God has called them.
Higashiku Christ no Church 50th Anniversary
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is the supreme and final standard for all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice. Through the Scriptures we come to know who God truly is and what He requires of us. The Bible is sufficient for all that pertains to life and godliness.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–11; Psalm 119:89, 105, 160; Isaiah 40:8; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12)
We believe in one eternal God who exists in three distinct personages—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each personage is fully God, co-equal in glory, power, and majesty, yet fully distinct from the others. God is infinite, eternal, unchangeable, and perfect in all His attributes.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8; Genesis 1:1–2; Isaiah 42:8; 48:16; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22; John 1:1–3; 10:30; 14:16–17; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 2 Corinthians 13:13; Ephesians 1:3–14)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, perfectly fulfilling the law of God. In Him the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form.
(John 1:1–14; 8:58; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18–25; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15; 7:26; Colossians 1:15–20; 2:9; Philippians 2:5–11)
We believe that Jesus Christ willingly died on the cross in the place of sinners. On the cross He took upon Himself the punishment we deserved, satisfying the righteous judgment of God against our sin. He was buried and, on the third day, rose bodily from the dead, proving that sin and death had been defeated. Because of what Jesus accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection, those who trust in Him are fully forgiven and made right with God. His finished work is the only basis for our salvation.
(Isaiah 53:4–6; Romans 3:21–26; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:11–14, 22–28; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18; Revelation 1:5)
We believe that God, the supreme Creator of all, made man in His perfect image. Man rebelled against God, sinning and thereby separating himself from the goodness and grace of God. This brought about both spiritual death and, eventually, physical death. All people are born in sin, are by nature children of wrath, and are incapable of saving themselves.
(Genesis 1:26–27; 2:16–17; 3:1–19; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10–12, 23; 5:12; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1–3)
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not by works, so that no one may boast. Those who repent and call upon the name of the Lord are justified, forgiven, and given eternal life. Good works are the necessary fruit of genuine faith, not the ground of salvation.
(John 3:16; 5:24; Acts 4:12; 16:31; Romans 3:28; 4:4–5; 10:9–13; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5; James 2:14–26)
We believe that Jesus Christ will return bodily and visibly at the end of the age. He will judge the living and the dead. Those who are in Christ will enter into eternal life; those who are not will face eternal punishment.
(Matthew 24:30–31; 25:31–46; John 5:28–29; Acts 1:11; 17:31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–10; Revelation 20:11–15; 21:1–8)
We believe that all who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone constitute one body in Him. We are called to pursue the unity for which Christ Himself prayed—a unity grounded in the essential truths of the gospel and expressed in love and partnership. While secondary issues may differ among evangelicals, we major on the majors and extend fellowship to all who hold the primary doctrines of the faith.
(John 17:20–23; Romans 15:5–7; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 12:12–13; Ephesians 4:1–6; Philippians 2:1–2; Colossians 3:14–15)
